Happy Navrathri !!! 

I can never forget my Golu Days. When i used to be kids, we kids used to dress ourselves in pavadai sattai and go to all neighbours house. The best part is we will get different gifts , like bangles, clips , Bindis etc.... Not to forget the boxes also. We used to enjoy those....

I used to practice only one carnatic song "Keraya Neeranu"... And sing the same song every day and in every house.

My mom used to draw different rangoli designs every day and it used to be really good. 

Missing those festive mood here!!! This is my second navaratri away from home. 

So, this time i decided to make sundals all nine days  ...... 


Channa Dal | Kadala Paruppu Sundal

 Ingredients


Kadala Paruppu  / Channa Dal
½ Cup
Coconut
2 tbsp
Green Chillis
1 or 2
Salt
As needed

To temper


Oil
1 Tsp
Mustard
¼ Tsp
Urad dal
1 Tsp
Kadala Paruppu
1 Tsp
Asafoetida
2 Generous Pinch
Curry Leaves
1 Sprig
                                                                                                                                                           

 Method


  • Soak the dal for about 2hrs. Strain the water from the dal.
  • Boil about two cups of water and add the dal to the boiling water and let it cook for about 5- 7 mins. Then add salt . To check if it is done, pick a dal and press in between your fingers. You should be able to mash it. Make sure not to over cook it.
  • In a pan, add oil. Once oil is hot, add Mustard, followed by urad dal, Kadala paruppu. Then add Curry leaves, green chillies and Asafoetida.
  • Then add the Channa dal , salute for a minute and add more salt if needed. Switch Off the flame.
  • Finally garnish with coconut.
