Stuffed Bun| Masala Bun

Stuffed Bun

Thanks to Raks kitchen for inspiring me to cook. When i got married and came to US. I had zero knowledge about cooking. All i would do before marriage was Sandwich, Pulao and Cutlets. My interest towards cooking started to change. Obviously on a positive side :). I would give those credits to all food bloggers. A very big Thanks to those out there.

when i started cooking i just add all ingredients just like that, i don't measure each and everything but the outcome would be good. Thank god :). But after checking out the food bloggers passion towards their blog, Photos and cooking i too started to do things in an organised manner.

Stuffed Bun is also an inspired recipe from Raks Kitchen.

 Ingredients

 For the Stuffing:

Boiled Potato
3 (medium sized)
Onion
1
Green Peas
¼ cup
Mustard
1 tsp
Zeera
1 tsp
Coriander seeds
1 tsp
Oil
2 Tbsp
Red chilli Powder
½ Tbsp
Turmeric
A pinch
Salt
As per taste

For the Bun:

All Purpose Flour
1 ½ Cups
Dry Active yeast
¾ Tbsp
Milk
¼ cup
Sugar
1 Tbsp
Salt
1 tsp
Oil
3 Tbsp
water
As required to make a soft dough

 Method

 For the Stuffing:

Boil The potatoes and the green peas. and chop the onions.

 1. Heat oil in a kadai. Add Mustard. Once it starts popping, add zeera, Coriander seeds.
 2. Add the chopped onions, salute till they are transparent. Now add turmeric, Red chilli and salt.
 3. Add Boiled Potatoes, mash them. Fry till everything mixes well.

For the Bun:

1. Warm the milk and add sugar, Yeast to it. Mix them well and keep it aside.
2. Mix All purpose flour, oil, salt and the above mixture. Make them into a smooth and soft dough. Add water if required while mixing.
3. Keep it aside for one hour by covering them with a wet cotton cloth or using a cling wrap.
4. After one hour, the dough would have raised.
5. Divide them into six equal balls. Keep this for about 15 mins.Use cling wrap to avoid drying of the dough.

Stuffing:

1. Divide the stuffing to six equal balls.

2. Take one ball of dough. With hands make it into a small round base.

3. Make a small pit like thing in the middle. Keep the stuffing ball and close it by pulling the dough from all sides.
4. Make it into a small bun.Repeat this for all other dough balls. Coat all the stuffed dough with     oil.

5. Arrange the stuffed dough in baking pan. Keep the folded side facing the pan.
(Line or cover the pan with aluminium sheets.)
6. Preheat the oven to 375 F. Keep the baking trays inside the oven for about 20 mins.Till the outer layer of bun becomes slightly brown.
7. Remove from oven and coat the buns with milk with the help of brush. This avoids the outer layer from becoming hard.

This is one of the best baked snacks :) :) :) My husband and my friends loved it.

Note:
1. Be careful while adding water. Add little by little. The dough should be soft and smooth. Not stiff.
2. Have a look at the oven for every five mins.
