Ingredients
All Purpose Flour | 1 and 1/2 cup |
Dry Instant Yeast | 3/4 Tbsp |
Olive oil | 3 Tbsp |
Warm water | 1/2 Cup + as needed |
Sugar | 1/4 Tsp |
Salt | as Needed |
Onion | 1 |
Salt | As needed |
Method
1. Mix flour, yeast, oil, sugar and salt in a bowl. Add water, knead them for about 5 minutes. Make them into smooth dough and cover with a cling wrap.Keep it aside for 1 1/2 hour.
2. The dough would have raised and doubled in size. Roll the dough to a flat bread using rolling pin.Place the dough in a baking tray lined with butter paper. Keep the dough as such for about half an hour. Cover the dough with cling wrap. By then cut the onions lengthwise and add 2 Tsp of oil. Mix them evenly. (If needed add salt).
3. After 1/2 an hour the dough would have raised more. Now, make shallow pits in the dough using finger. Drizzle some oil over the dough and into the pits.
4. Spread the onions above the dough. Preheat the oven for 375 F. Place the baking tray inside the oven. Cook for about 20 mins. (Till the upper part of focaccia becomes brown)
5. Cut them into squares and serve them.
Enjoy this italian delicacy with sauce :) :) :). You can even garnish further with herbs or Chilli flakes.
Note:
-
The timings may differ from mine. Take out the Focaccia when it becomes slightly brown.
-
Don’t salute the onion and then add to rolled flour. It is better to add raw onion slices.
-
You can even add herbs, chilli flakes.
-
After adding yeast the dough should raise double its original size. If not, please try changing yeast brand.
-
If using active dry yeast (1 Tbsp) and not instant yeast, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and add sugar. The yeast should froth and add the yeast to dough.
